This is one type, it fits in your existing distributor (assuming you still have the original one), just be sure the coil you have is compatible. SimonBBC can advised you on that.

For only a few quid extra, it'd be worth fitting a whole new Lucas distributor with the electronic ignition already installed for you (£59.95), which is what I would have done if only I'd have known

Have a look on the dizzy you've got now to figure out if you've got either a 23D or 25D type, it's usually written on it somewhere and do you have top entry ignition leads or side entry?

Have a look here

Until someone maps the advance curve on the remanufactured one, to confirm there suitable and curved for the model/engine cc, previously one model fits all see A+ listing, but the 998 and 1275 curves are completly different, so I would advise if your current distributor is in good order then I would fit a electronic model in your distributor, which has the correct advance cure, not one does all.

You need a standard 12v coil to work with the module not a electronic Ignition Coil

Is this the one you bought to go with the ignition module http://www.simonbbc....c-ignition-coil

If so you have the wrong one

(sorry, I'm not wanting to throw cold water on your post, just be a bit informed about the choices out there. The model of the Dissy ie 25D4 or 45D4 doesn't tell us what the curve is or whether it suits your engine without potentially damaging it)

No problem at all, that is the point of forums after all....discuss, help and learn from others.

Thanks for the link, it was very interesting and somewhat surprising.

Dave, I think you're addressing Macker?

But whilst we're on the subject, I've got a 1973 850 (pre-ballast) mini that I've recently got fired up after it was sitting untouched for 20 years.

Obviously everything needed replacing like the cap, rotor arm, leads & plugs but rather than fit new points etc, I decided to fit the Accuspark kit instead mainly because of the recommendations here on TMF.

So now I'm thinking about upgrading the old original coil so I was going to order the intermotor sports coil

Is that the right choice?

Yes Keith thats the Intermotor Sports Coil which I run on my 12v Ignition system, I swapped out my Lucas Gold Sports Coil after speaking to Simon at Minispares when they stopped stocking it due the the amount going wrong. I now recommend the MSC 105 and have fitted quite a few.

Hi KernowCooper.
I think you are possibly right. I am awaiting a reply from the supplier to say if the distributor they supplied is suitable to run with the high energy coil.
It does run very well at the moment, but I assume it could cause early demise of the distributor internals ?
Thanks for pointing this out. I will post their reply when I get it.

Hi again,
I have just spoken to the supplier and I have indeed picked the wrong coil.
It was my fault but they offered to change it for me for the cost of postage, which I thought was very good of them.
There is a standard 3 Ohms coil on its way.
Maybe this post will help others to not make the same mistake.

When I read your post I picked up on it, and what happens is it eventually causes the module to fail
