Hi again,

I have asked this question before but with no success unfortunately ... anyway i recently purchased a 1980gt and although the engine seems to turn freely i have been unable to start as the dizzy was missing .

Looking on ebay i can see there are lots of different types, some with vacuum some without and others have electric modules strapped to the side etc etc...

My question is what type is fitted standard to the 1275gt of that year and how do the electrics connect up ?

At this point i just want to get the car running however i am doing up a mk1 too and have an a+ engine sitting on the bench that i plan on using so i could buy a better dizzy and keep it for that project !

I hope this makes sense and thank again for your advise and help as always  ;D

I bought a second hand 45d for my A series, when I checked its serial no I found it was from a small bore/ auto. Phoned up Aldon and was told to post it along with my engine spec and they would adjust the weights for an advance curve to match the spec, he quoted £45-£50 for this. I'll also fit an electronic points kit once I get it back and hopefully this will do the job until I save some pennies for some fancy setup!

I believe it to be an A+ on that year with a retaining bracket type dizzy .

It is the original engine to the car a late 1980 .

Cheers

If its an A+ then I would go for an 65DM4 electronic unit.

Thanks for all the help, after doing some homework on A compared to A+ engines i`m pretty sure mine is an A+ due to the lack of a rear bracket on the alternator !

Thanks again AC, although that model seems quite pricey ! Is it worth it ? Also could you please advise how i would wire up the electronic module on the side ?

That's a bargain at that price, top pin positive of the coil, bottom pin goes to the negative coil terminal.
