While you are down there cast an eye over the rear spring hanger and the front mount of the rear spring under the carpet,typical rust spots which need the rear wing off to repair.You may be lucky.Steve..

I've already checked and it has been previously repaired.

The mini neon I did some bits on is now complete and waiting on the lawn with its stable mate which is also waiting an mot.

Quick question, do you know if the original neon pin stripping and decals were clear coated or just applied over the finished surface? Seeing the photo of the completed car has shown me that I need to find the pin strip kit and have it put on to break up the colour a bit.

The pinstripe set is stuck on over the top and I believe is available as a set from Minispares.

I've now mocked up the panels on the mg and I'm happy that everything is lining up ok.

 

That's a new b post, new a post, new lower rear wing, front wing and door.

Mot results are in for the neon.

 

It failed on the fog lamp not working and an electrical malfunction with the headlamps. Typical mini! It was all working perfectly prior to the test... 

only other things were the passenger side seatbelt wouldn't fasten and play in the steering column.

 

30 mins later and it's ready for its retest.

More on the MG.

 

Happy with the position of the a and b posts, I started to weld them in their final position.

 

 

 

Next job is to replace part of the outer inner arch.

Here is the damaged portion cut off

 

 

And a new section clamped in

 

 

And welded

 

 

 

And sealed up before the wing goes on

 

 

I also carried out a small repair to the inner inner arch

It was good to meet up with Paul and to see Ben , I took my Mini for a run last night and WOW, the smoothness of the engine and additional power is great, I will do an update once I get back home and have added a few hundred miles. Thanks Ben for the great work

I hadn't really driven your mini out on the road any great distance prior to the engine swap so have nothing to compare with but i totally agree with your comments. I thought the gearbox felt lovely too.

Oil change Friday??  You only picked it up Monday

 

He picked It up with running in oil as it's a new engine. 

Ran around in it over here and then returned to have it changed for regular oil.
