Hi,

I'm in the middle of rebuilding my 1275cc MPI mini engine.

I'm looking for either new pistons or new piston rings.

The number on top of the piston is 21963 pm4 c09.

I went on mini spares and its says that the piston is for a 1300 metro engine.

This has me now really confused because I thought I had a 1275.

Please can someone spread some light on the situation?

Thanks Jake

Yes that number is for all high compression metros and minis from around 1984. Your MPI mini does indeed use 21963 pistons as it is 1275 cc as standard.

Ok thanks.

Do you know the difference between the 21253 and the 21963?

The 21253 usually comes up with a slightly higher deck height giving higher compression, easily fixed though if the crown is machined.
