So today I have spent most of my day either on the phone to accuspark or trying to find the issue with why my car just stopped dead, after plenty fettling I narrowed it down to a blown coil, I then put a new 12v coil in it and after about 10 miles the car now won't start again!!!! I put the points back in the car and there's no spark at all, so all things pointing back to a blown coil, accuspark have said that any 12v ballast coil will do it, and yet here I am in the sh*t. Should've just stuck to points

Have you rewired the car to take an electronic ignition kit and ballast coil?

I'd be interested to know how you have wired the new system up ?

You metion 12v and ballasted coil in the same sentence, if its a 12v coil then it needs a 12v feed. if its a ballsated system then its a 9v feed to a ballasted coil. its all covered here http://www.theminifo...t-step-by-step/

I read that for a guide how to fit mine, it was originally on the white/pink white/yellow wires on a 9v coil. The man I spoke to at the shop said I'd need a 12v ballast coil, I phoned up a car parts shop and explained exactly what I was told to get, so I did, I then ran a 12v feed from the fuse box to the positive like it said on the guide and that way the car started straight away, I got it home. Left it for an hour and went to get back in it to go somewhere, the car started, as soon as I went to move off it died

You need a 12v standard 3.5ohm coil and a 12v ignition switched feed (as you have installed) as per my instructions, given the wrong information I'm afraid

This is why i said in another thread that I'm not keen on the hybrid system, where have you took the full voltage positive feed to? The coil? The red on the electronic kit? Or both?

I took it to the coil? Have I done something wrong? I copied the video guide and read up on how to do it to be sure I didn't mess up and I've now ended up with a non working mini

Its explained clearely in my fitting guide, 12v feed onto a 12v coil std coil + terminal and the red wire from the module onto the coil + and the black onto the coil -, your problem is using the wrong coil

See you could have wired it to work with the ballast coil by leaving the wiring as it was and just adding the new feed to the accuspark kit only, so they are not wrong if you have told them the car is ballasted. You can do it that way but I wouldn't as it causes confusion imo and as you have found out!

But they are wrong Pete in saying any 12v ballasted coil will do

I actually didn't specifiy that I needed the ballasted one, it was the man on the phone who said I did, I didn't know if I should need a ballast coil or not, he looked up on his end and said that's the one I should need? I'm no expert in the knowledge of mini year/parts so I just hoped the person I was talking to from the company knew more than me and it seems that wasn't the case I guess :/

You mention shop ? so this didn't come direct from accusparks ? did you read the post before ordering the kit ? if you did I would have challenged them at the point of order
