I dont know how to go about the coils though, because technically it's not the modules fault, it's the man I spoke too?? I mean I have the invoice for the coil

I guess they have just put the year in and come up with that coil, although I agree with Kernow at the same time the ballast coil could have been used if wired up properly, its a bit half of one six of the other for me to some extent?

I put in my dad's coil (exactly the same brand/voltage as the one I bought yesterday) and put in the points, the coil is wired with a 12v feed to the + and the points go to the -, before changing the coil I put the points on the previous coil and it wouldn't start up at all, this other coil though had the mini up and running (badly I may add as it was rushed to try get my home) but now it's parked up and I'm on the pushbike until I can get things sorted

That coil and the accuspark wired like that should do the trick or do you need to give it back?

That is exactly how I had it wired yesterday with the accuspark kit this is what I don't understand, I had a good night of pondering what I had done wrong, if a previous owner had fiddled with the loom, but I just couldn't figure out what was wrong grumbled and went to bed early. The coil I have in now is exactly the same as the one I had in yesterday reference numbers and everything, so now is it a faulty coil, or a faulty module is the next question

Sounds like the module is shot then, I ran a ballast coil and feed with an accuspark kit for a while without problems (it's not right to do that) but running a ballast coil at full voltage switched by the kit might have ruined it? I'd say you need to replace both by the sounds of things :-(

My dad (also on this forum....Somewhere) informed me that the first coil in fact was 12v not 9 and the previous owner had changed it to a 12v coil. (Part no. Matches the next 2 we had put on it)

If you fit a known standard 12v coil and a new kit using the new 12v feed you installed and make safe all the old ballast feed wiring it should be perfect.

If your running a 12v coil with a 12v feed can you confirm with a meter between the + and - terminals with nothing connected it reads 3-3.5ohms, thats the right coil for a standard 12v system
