There comes a time in life when you have to admit defeat, and my time came today. The boot floor I've tried to patch using repair panels is bolloxed...

Time to start saving for a full boot floor panel. Gutted

It's so much more worth it.

The cost of the panel is tiny compared to how much time it will save you and the difference in the finished job.

Cheers

Ben

Thanks Ben, I've given up on the boot floor, looks straightforward enough to fit as well

Had a trip here today because I wasn't paying £40 to have a boot floor delivered by minispares

jwnBShT.jpg

I got a boot floor and also picked up a rear subframe as well, and there's a sale on, Happy Days

MDRFeHS.jpgT2UKhku.jpg

As we went in R kids van it only cost me the price of a fat boy burger from Preston Harley, quids in!!

Looks like we're going to be busy very soon

Best way forward, the bootfloor although daunting at first is very easy to change, and far quicker than all the repair panels. Not very expensive really for what it is.

I tried the repair panels but found I'd be chasing the metal further back to find sound stuff. Wish I'd made the decision earlier

Nice one, the kids are back in school today so back on the GT, had literally 2 hours in the garage so this happened.

The plan is tomorrow to roll it over and drill the spot welds on the seat to heel board joint and remove the rest of the floor, then hopefully the whole floor will be in by the end of the week

Managed a few hours today with R Kid, was held up by a visit to the dentist for a check up that ended up being 45 minutes late, luckily no new metal required. The same can't be said about this!YgocJHh.jpg

The holes getting bigger, rolled it over to drill the spot welds on the seat to heel board joint, hoping to get it prepped for the new panel tomorrow, no appointments to get in the way

Don't be guilty, I should have given the boot floor a good going over with a wire wheel first, it would have saved a whole lot of time. Doing it this way will be a neater job.

It's all a learning curve. As they say you learn from your mistakes. I must be getting clever by now haha

Well it fits, tried it clamped up with the subframe in place all looked good, but due to an unfortunate mishap with a companion bin it's not welded

If I was my boss I'd be sacking myself because my garage was a disgrace so had a tidy up. Then ordered a companion bin from minispares because minisport had none in stock, and then Sat Nav gave me this box of goodies

Hi,

i'm replacing my boot floor too and i'm about at the same stage as you are.

does anyone know how to get the rear subframe mount area at the correct height ? does it involve using the two holes on the rear wheel arch lip ? there must be a way to get it spot on. If one side is slightly higher then the car won't sit straight.

Pete.
