Recently the back lights have become intermittent, along with the binnacle lights.
Reverse lights work if you hold the gear stick in the position, remove your hand and the lights go out.
Some one suggested to change the fuse box as the contacts corrode, so i did this. It was pretty bad
But it still didn't solve it.
Any help or guidance would be much appreciated.

rear lights and dash lights are operated via the switch - which sends power through fuse 4 and then splits off to the front and rear of the car. If you are having issues with the dash illumination id check the actual spade connections on the fusebox as well.
The rear loom connects with bullets near the wiper motor - like the fusebox they suffer with corrosion / break over time. Check them out and repair if neccessary. Rear sidelights are red/green tracer and I think reverse is green/brown tracer.
The reverse lights could also be the switch acting up.
