Thanks for the replys that makes alot of sense now..
The only problem i have now when i retard the timing (turn the dizzy antclockwise) the vacuum unit is touching the starter motor so it is still a bit out. The old dizzy was non vac so this was not a problem. So i guess the drive dog in the block is probably 1 tooth out

Correct slip the drive out and rectify as required will sort it
