Hi,

has anyone got a picture of the brackets mounted to the subframe for holding the tensioning spring in place at the rear drums please?

Also, and I do know that this is probably a stupid question, but do the handbrake quadrants go on the top of the radius arm or below it?

Thanks,

Rod

Ok so the cable goes through the subframe to the quadrants underneath the radius arm. How do the cables not rub on the subframe? That's why I was asking about them going above the radius arm.

Do you have a photo of where the spring brackets sit please?

Thanks,

Rod

That is useful thanks but what I need to see is how the cable gets routed. I am assuming it goes through the subframe or is it meant to go under it?

Thats the only thing this doesn't show.

Thanks,

Rod

That does tell me that it runs through the hole in the subby - thats fine thanks -but surely it rubs on the subframe? The quadrant is below the radius arm so it must rub - doesn't it?

Just about every question is answered in the Haynes manual. Get one it will have paid for its self in a day or so.

It shouldn't rub (I presume you are meaning on the lower webbings).

Hi

I meant the cable will rub on the edge of the hole in the subframe. It runs through the large hole in the subby but because of the quadrant being on the bottom of the radius arm. I wanted to check that the wire was running through the correct place and to avoid it rubbing if at all possible.

Handbrake sorted.

I was guilty of what my wife calls 'boy looking' and I hadn't seen the smaller hole behind the larger hold - and that is where the handbrake cable actually goes.

All done now. As it turns out I didn't need to use the brackets that bolt on to the rear drum plates. I have the later set up that just requires you to use a clevis pin straight on to the arm that comes out of the back plate.

Handbrake is all in and sorted.

Done and thanks for everyone's input.

You still need the brackets as they are the "stop" for the spring which ensures the lever moves back and so releases the handbrake

I've only ever seen one version of the brackets/cable/spring so fairly confident there isn't a "later" version of this area, mk1's being slightly different on the cables
