I had a 340GLE I think it was while I was at uni.

Was great fun taking my mates out sideways round roundabouts in it.

Looking forward to seeing what direction you take this.

If it's an inline 6 you want, there's only one option for ultimate performance:

Am i right by saying that Guy martin owns this amazon now?

I wanted an amazon 122s and i found the 240 hunting for one. Im pleased I accidentally found the 240, but I wish it had SU carbs like the older volvos because they are familiar.

Yup the sideburn warrior owns this.

I doubt a membership to the 1000 horsepower club will help with my insurance! I'd love an inline 6 though.

Ive just got to hunt around after winter to see what would be best in the long run. I want enough power to blow off a majority of aggressive BMW and Audi drivers, but nothing too over the top and unpleasant to use as a daily driver.

The new pcv system is now fitted.

The system is made up of several rubber pipes, this weird looking box called the oil trap and a fire trap.

(This is the new one fitted)

It fits directly to the block like this. That little rubber bit poking out is about 12" long and took ages to get out.

I think it was well worth changing. This is the state of the inside of the fire trap. Its not too clogged up, but past its best.

Not a very interesting update, but necessary non the less.

The odometer stopped working, so that had to come apart. It turns out that this is a common problem, and it's caused by a tiny gear inside breaking.

Apparently this has something to do with the lubricant they used, and it makes the gears get soft, and the teeth break off. I was given a set of clocks
by the previous owner as a good will gesture (it sucks to buy a car and an important part breaks within a short period of time) so he sent a set out of
car the volvo club are breaking. I was planning on switching the parts over, but it turns out the clocks he sent me suffer from the same problem.

The Gear sits in here.

And looks like this:

20151123_142030.jpg

I'm waiting on a new set of gears to arrive

There was also a dent on one of my trims, people call them hockey sticks. No-one reproduces them, and you see a lot of 240's with
them missing.
Luckily I managed to find the side I needed on Ebay for a decent price.

New piece on.

Got some wheels arriving, hopefully on Friday, so there will be a much more interesting update then.

A little shot of it to see how it will look. I think they will suit it just fine.

Unusual choice for the 240 - Like it! Is there enough clearance and does the PCD/ET match up?

There is enough clearance for the size without having to make any adjustments to the body thanks to the offset of the wheels. As for PCD, the hubs are 5x108, and the 928 wheels are 5x130, the offsets are dramatically different, however the porsche wheels have a really high positive offset, the fronts being Et 65 and rears being Et 52.3 so some large, but precise adaptors are going to be needed.

I was worried at first, as i thought the styles wouldn't really go. The only rationale i went on was that the 928 and the 240 are of the same era, but it seems to have worked out  :shades:

Exhaust fell off.

20160229_175500.jpg

I kept it tied up with some thick wire, it was pretty stable actually, but the sound was awful and it ran just as bad.

20160229_175513.jpg

Bought a new OEM exhaust system, I was looking at a few sports exhausts but i would have wanted a SS system and no-one really sold them,
and with a little bit of research it turned out that there wasn't really any gains other than sound. The engine mounts are probably past their best
so the next job on the list before lowering will be to replace them with poly mounts. I think the engine shook the exhaust system to bits.

I've got an update about the suspension probably in a few weeks.
