Your grill is looking abit worse for wear Tom. Also can you spray cars in your new garage? Would you be up for doing mine when the time comes (not for a while).

Nice to see Snot still getting some loving.

Lol yea i know what you mean about the grill, i took it off after the pics were taken, iv got all the slats still, so ill re-build it once i get some smaller riverts.

Iv not got a booth or anything like that, but iv got compressors and decent guns, so if you want ill paint it on the cheap for you... it would be a good finish, but not concourse.

Yea, Got most of the brake lines re-run inside, and fuel lines, put the swift pump into the tank, fitted my hilos finally aswell as my Gaz shocks, changed oil fileter and oil, changed water pump and cam belt.

Would have got more done but my mates bought a beetle and wanted me to do some welding for him. Hows the K coming along?

Sounds like your making progress atleast, iv not done much with the k-series conversion, apart from fitting a new clutch to my engine.

I need to get myself a daily drive then ill take Rolling Snot off the road and do the conversion.

Wow i havent updated this in a long time!!!

Well iv had lots of thought about selling Snot over the last few months, as ill be going to uni next year...

So iv been cutting back all my projects (i had alot haha) so when i go to uni i will have space for everything once i get rid of the unit... So iv sold off 3 project cars already, leaving me with this mini my k-series powered clubman estate and a 2 liter zetec ka that i would be using for autograss...

Ill be selling the ka for sure and im trying to find somewhere to keep this mini and my clubman estate...

Also lest month some idiot ran a red light and took the front of my daily drive, leaving me with *melonsed* thumb and a bad neck, so iv not been able to do much for the last few weeks, however it did mean that insurance have paid me out a nice wedge, so with that money i decided to put the spark back into snot by deciding to go down the turbo route!!!

Last week i started feeling a bit better and whipped the engine out of Snot leaving my mini looking very sorry for itself ;)

Posted Image

I decided that if im going to stick a turbo on the engine i should give it a nice re-build before hand even though it was a strong engine. So i started stripping it down.

Posted Image

Then left with the block i de-glazed the bores and cleaned up the face, and gave it an instant 100bhp by painting it red haha.

Posted Image

Iv also stripped down the gearbox, which seemed to be in amazing condition. So iv just built it back up, fitted a central oil pick up and a 2.9 final drive, but before i fit the engine i think ill take the diff back out and fit a x pin diff.

Posted Image

So heres som pics of the bits i have brought.

First up the turbo, on its manifold along with a few other usefull bits, from jayare off the forum

Posted Image

Posted Image

Iv also managed to source a turbo inlet manifold and plenum:

Posted Image

Along with a turbo HIF44 carb:

So im going to get a new ring and shell set for the engine along with a turbo oil pump.

Iv already got a load of 8mm fuel line and a 3bar fuel pump left over from my clubman estate project, so fueling side of things all i need now is a turbo fuel pressure regulator.

Ignition wise i think at the moment ill just but a metro turbo dizzy and run that but if iv got the cash spare ill probably go magajolt.

The plan is to run it at quite a low boost for the moment (around 8psi) and if i like the whole turbo think ill build a powerfull turbo engine, but then again im supposed to be saving for uni at the moment haha.

Haha thanks everyone, i cant wait to have Snot back on the road with a bit of grunt, was a bit sad when i sold the 1380 and went back to a 1275, it was just sooo much slower.

And once this is built it should be even more fun than the 1380 i had :)

As for a deadline, im not sure to be honest as i want to make sure i build a strong engine so ill just build it as and when funds allow...

Iv also decided to go down the magajolt route i think, due to the fact that that is so much more tunable, also price wise its not much more expensive than a turbo dizzy and its so much more tunable.

So because of this decision i managed to pick up a 36-1 plate that ill mount on my standard pulley for the bargain price of £5, iv already got an EDIS4 with plug, a coil pack and pick up sensor from a car that i broke up a while ago so that saves getting them, but i need to get the plugs for the coil pack and sensor, but thats not a problem.

Posted Image

So all iv got to buy is the two plugs and the megajolt ecu itself so the conversion will easily be under £100 so in my eyes i see it a worthwhile thing to do.

Another little update, i brought a bulkhead box off Jason G from on turbo minis which was made very well and was just £19 posted, if you need one i would definitely recommend him!!!

So as i had the bulkhead box i though what the hell ill get it fitted, i decided to do this whilst down the unit, so had no pictures to go off to see exactly where it goes in the bulkhead so i just guessed on its position and got cutting and welding and heres the result:

Posted Image

I checked against the pictures i had saved on my laptop and luckily its exactly in the right place :( so much have been pretty easy to fit haha.

Iv been hunting round for some piston rings but it seems that they dont make them anymore! So ill take the pistons to my local engine machining shop when i get the chance and see if they can get them. If not it looks like it might need to be over bored or find some other pistons.

Cheers, i think i just enjoy project haa, always wanting to do something different to them once iv got it on the road again.

Ill be doing motor sport engineering :) should be good hopefully.

No still not painted the klubman yet, kindo of lost insperation for the project, but im trying to get there, all it needs is paint to be finished.

Not much done with the turbo conversion atm, as im thinking of getting the block over bored, buying some nice pistons and getting my crank sorted so i can build a stronger engine, so i can run more boost :D

Iv also brought a modified turbo to plenum pipe so i can run intercooer pipes easier, just got to mod the plenum now and ill be using this intercooler, hopefully ill be able to get it to sit behind the grill, but if not ill have it sticking out the front, not to everyones taste, but i would prefer it to get a good cold air feed and still be able to get to things in the engine bay...
