Hi, I have a 1990 cooper that is standard apart from a single box maniflow exhaust, and I'm going to be buying/installing the maniflow freeflow manifold and a new inlet manifold. So my question is, will this: http://www.med-engin...ub-stack-system be more beneficial on my engine and set up than a cone filter? And after all of this is fitted it will be taken to a rolling road.

Thanks

Henry

Hi thanks for all the replies. The ITG and med sub stack is very tempting, But would it have a bigger effect on my engine than just a cone air filter? On their website it says it gives an extra 4 bhp, but that is on a more powerful engine than mine.

4-5 bhp from a bolt on air filter? Hahahaha... very good.

It'll make the car sound like it has 15-20 more horsepower. In essence, bolt it straight on and the car will run lean, especially with a stub stack. Rolling Road to get the needle sorted. Then it might make 2-3 more at peak.

I'm not trying to be an ar$e, more manage expectations.

yeah I understand that I wont get that from my engine, especially as it hasn't been heavily modified.

On a side note, will I need to buy anything else apart from the manifold itself and the inlet manifold, when installing the new exhaust manifold?

1. he said it was going to a rolling road after fitting

2. so you have fitted one and done the sums

3. he will notice more mid range torque like I did

4. you are being a bit of an arse

Apologies - I skim read the OP's post. He's having it rollered - doing it properly. Many don't and disappointment ensues.

So fitting a shorter inlet tract will give you more torque vis a standard filter box+element. Afraid not. That's why the most efficient manifolds put volume into the inlet plenum. 5-5.5" long runners on Weber manifolds to boost torque.

I've fitted K&N filter box and stub stack to similar modded set-up, 1275cc Maniflow LCB Manifold, RC40, modded head onan otherwise lightly modified car. It also ran SU HIF44 so I am talking from personal experience and qualified to give some constructive comment. Otherwise I'd have just read the post and STFU.

I've just fitted an ITG filter to my 45DCOE, they are brilliant bits of kits so I'm knocking personal choice either. Its just neither the ITG nor K&N will give anything like 4-5 bhp - utter madness to suggest such.

its the combination of the ITG and the MED sub stack

I would love to see the before and after print out to prove the 4-5bhp increase.

I very much doubt it and no i dont have one fitted.
