The question here is then why are you fitting that cam if most of the time you are going to be driving in the low rpm ranges?
If you are using stock rockers the standard 12g1015 spring will be good enough. On any build you should be checking spring seated load. Shim as required.

Isn't the 266 cam designed for torque and usability lower down the rev range? I'll be driving it at reasonably lower revs because that's how I usually drive in everyday traffic, I'm not a twenty year old anymore y'know!

Hehehe, the sw5-07, piper BBP255, Kent 246 or my own ACD - RT grinds are focused at the area in the rev range you are looking at.

Well the reason(s) I'm using the 266 is that even though I'll be driving sensible most of the time now and then I'll probably feel the need to "clear her out" so felt that the 266 would be the best compromise, also an unused Kent 266 kit came up for sale at a very good price! Thanks again for all the good advice and help once more, this is what makes this website so good!

Skoughi,

You may be disappointed by performance of MD266 with standard A+ rockers. It's OK but not exciting.

I have MD266 in a 1293, this was running on A+ rockers. I changed from A+ to forged rockers with offset bushes. The new set-up gives 8mm valve lift - and much better mid-range and top end power. But I needed to adjust the dizzy advance curve quite a bit to get best out of this set-up.

Now I'm wondering if a set of 1.4 rockers with the MD266 might work even better...

I'm thinking that once I finally get this thing together and be able to use it is that the first upgrade that I can afford will be to change the rockers and the ones you suggest seem to be a good bet. I'm not expecting much to be honest with this engine, if it works at all I'll be happy! Changing the flywheel to a lightened verto or complete change to pre verto is on the list as well.
