As a starting point, get rid and put electronic in there. Points are just not worth the hassle.

I'm looking at electronic dizzys right now. I've found MiniSport.com have a few Aldon dizzys but i'm trying to figure out which one would be best. I'm not sure if the engine has had a fast cam installed so don't really want to put in a 'competition' distributor if it's gonna have some massive advance. Then there's the decision between a vacuum or not, from what i've read the vacuum is the better one. So then i'm left looking at this.

Or do you think i'll just be better off with a standard Lucas type replacement that runs electronic ignition as appose to points? like this for example

Ill have to double check the lucas number before ordering but i think its the 45D

Thanks

I would just stick a cheap accuspark kit in for now and get it timed up nice, once you know a bit more about the engine spec or if a rolling road session later shows up that a 'trick' complete dizzy would help you can get the correct one at a later date or even grab a good used one at your leisure.
