I have an embarrassing confession though. I found a number engraved into the body but it was nothing like the usual saxx type mini number so though it was just a manufacturing number. After being told by Stewart what the vin should be its the very same number. Doh! Lol
Saves all the hassle of dealing with paperwork back and forward now though.
Just to note: the dvla said they wont accept a v62 without the vin number unless its just a case of loss and you are already the registered keeper. They also said they can now do this over the phone if thats the case. They will return the v62 now if its left blank. That was my original issue and why i started the thread. I will say though in the past Ive written that im not a mechanic so cant find it in that section and the old style log book would still come through. Many years ago now when logbooks were hardly even filled in when the car was bought.
I remember if i sold a car i would just hand the logbook over and it wasnt a big deal? Things are very different now.
