I'm pretty sure with most of these fluids you can mix them,

In this case, the term "mix" does not apply.

You can pour DOT-3, DOT-4, DOT-5, and DOT-5.1 into the same container and shake them until the cows come home.  While the DOT-3, -4, and -5.1 fluids will mix and stay blended, the DOT-5 will separate out.  Think of this as "oil and vinegar".  They are both liquid, they can sit in the same jar, but they won't stay mixed.  The fluid types are too different.

OK,,,, OK,,,, maybe I used the term loosely.

You can pour in Glycol Based fluids with Silicon Based fluids (and viki-verka), but, as I mentioned before, the benefit will have well gone.

I agree that you'd have a hard time mixing them in the true sense of the word.

DON'T TRY THIS - EVER!

I'm just watching an old doco on youtube;-

The guy is a dead set maniac - luv him!

Anyway around the 4:00 minute mark he says you can make your own brake fluid from 50% Methylated Spirits and (wait for it) 50% Cooking Oil.

Like I say, DON'T TRY THIS AT HOME OR ANYWHERE but good for a laugh.
