probably a stupid question but then again no such thing as a stupid question just stupid answers haha.

the original hazard light switch has a light in it that will flash when it is activated. the switch I want to fit doesn't illuminate when activated. now my question is do I need to fit a small warning light that will flash when the switch is activated or will the indicators flashing be enough for it to pass its MOT when the car is finished ?

regards James

You'll need a warning light - indicators left on can cause accidents!

I thought this was the case so I need to have a little warning light next to the switch or somewhere on the dash showing the switch is on

No separate tell tale needed for hazards if your indicator tell tale flashes when you turn your hazards on. However if your indicator tell tale doesn't then yes as above you will need a separate hazard tell tale.

so if the indicator lights flash when hazard light switch is turned on then you don't need another light. the car is from 1991 so if I remember correctly the indicator lights flashed when the switch was turned on as well as the light in the rocker switch

Yep. As long as your normal indicator tell tales flash when you turn the hazards on you don't need a dedicated hazard one.
