I have a 1991 SPI (British Open Classic).  I am putting in a new transmission.  Where I purchased the transmission they also set the end-float so they provided the flywheel housing.  Problem, I just noticed that the flywheel housing does not have the hole for the crank sensor.

First thought is take the set back - the shop is 6+ hours round trip drive.

Second - use my old flywheel housing and set the end-float myself.

Third - Drill out the hole for the crank sensor. Is this something that is commonly done?

In many ways option 3 would be the easiest for me (and the quickest).  I just don't want to get the car all together to find out that I have to take it all apart again.

Thanks for the advice.

Chris:

The sensor has to be aligned pretty critically.

Look at the flywheel and you can see where it runs and interacts with the notches.

The issue with using the old one is have the right washers to set the gap and it is possible that this would be a good time to replace the bearings which I assume Minimania did on the replacement.
