I'd like to know how to get a set of MG Metro standard springs. ?

Apparently they are 52mm free length as against more basic1275 springs which are 50mm but still use the standard 35.3mm fitted length

No one seems to stock them and Somerford is rather confusing

According to factory info of 1985, all the 1275 Metro Engines, including the MG Metro, but excluding the Turbo all had the same springs, singles, 1.95" Free Length, 79.5 lb / in rate. Now I look at this, it's the same spring as fitted to the 998 A+.

The Turbo was fitted with double springs.

Well that seems clear enough but I was quoting from Des Hammill's book as was Gazza. Des reckons that the MG ones are unique and the picture there does appear to tell all, the one he says is MG clearly stands that little bit higher.

They would be ideal for me as I don't do double springs, my rev limiter comes in only a small amount higher than the red line on my standard Mayfair rev counter !

I'll have a look in Des's book later, see if he gives another reference.

Here's the page from a later (1989) Factory Metro Workshop manual;-
