theres a bloke with a clubman estate and he's fitted a sunny gtir engine/running gear.i think he's also got 17inc rims on it too!.im tempted to do scooby conversion on my van thinking about it,but i dont want to ruin it's looks.(theres another van on e-bay 79 model for nearly £300)few days remaining.
any ideas on what would be better for 4wd scooby conversion? -saloon shell
-81 mini van

Loads of people have done this.....even if Z-Cars supply the kit with a bike engine for them! Sounds very interesting go for it!

I thought 'bout this, but still looking at the mechanincs of the engine. I was looking at putting the gearbox in the back and the block under the bonnet. Then knocking out the front wheel drive.

I'd love to see how this comes out, mine wont get underway for another few years yet. And an impreza engine is just one of the options i'm considering...

I'm not greatly knowledgable on engines and the like, but it sounds to me to be an awsome idea.

When you get the project off the ground keep us updated. Everyone will love to see it coming along.

Good idea, but you will need a really good strengthened body shell. Standard BHP on a scoobie is 225bhp, with prodrive up to 265bhp, and then any thing up to around 400bhp is possible by removing the TMIC and replacing with a FMIC, replacing the 16g Turbo for a 18g or 20g, stainless steel headers, the list goes on. Power and torque might not suit a standard mini shell, but with the right one, oooeerrrrrr.

Good Luck

ps, I own a Scoobie, and no, the engine is not for sale lol.

How do you get hold of Prodrive products?? I went to the Prodrive factory itself and was speaking to the lads that build Petter Solbergs WRC car. One of them has even been in Minimag with his white clubman. They told me that there's not a single product that leaves the factory that the general public can get hold of. Only specially sponsored privatiers can get hold of the cars.

personally i cant see the point in all the effort of a 4wd mini.. but would be cool yeah. WHy not copy ringmini and use a honda 4wd system with a vtec bolted on top.. if thats not good enough then turbo it aswell.

Probably a little easier with a clubby estate rather than van, would be a shame to reduce the A series van population by another....

Where do you get your figures from? The Sti is 265bhp standard and 305 with the ppp (pro-drive performance package) a wrx is 225 as standard, the Sti engine has a stronger engine though and is capable of handling more power when modified
