yeah as above, I think the only practical place without block machining is the top alternator bracket bolt.

to be honest i would expect a tuner to be using a set of det phones rather than rely on an unproven knock sensor

Maybe I misunderstood him on the phone but I am sure he said he would connect his headphones to the knock sensor.

It is a reputable place - BSR

Ah, OK that makes a bit more sense.

The eternal dissatisfaction with my choice of air filters continues….

I recently added a set of 4 K&N cone filter directly onto the bike throttle bottles, this meant i had to remove the ram pipes. After a bit of reading and the assumption that they must benefit the flow, or they wouldn't be part of the kit.

I added them again today, with new Ramair double socks.

Still appear to be too close to the where the bonnet will be, restricting air flow?

I also have a set of ram pipe mesh filters in the post, maybe they will be best?

I have a rolling road session this week, so maybe i will get the chance to test different solutions.

Rolling road will be the key. I've been wondering whether to go plenum with one larger filter for the same reason - but to be honest I'm not noticing a lack of power.

My SC 7 port ram pipes ended up fitting in a very similar position to yours. I managed to work with the SC filter and bent the bottom of the wire cage to fit round the closing panel on the front end. On the rolling road there was a slight drop off of bhp between 6 and 7 thousand revs but hardly any loss of torque between the bonnet being open and being closed. The two things that affected it the most were removing the ram pipes and a lack of cool air to feed the filter. I may modify it by making a plenum with a remote filter located so it will pick up cool air.

So the mesh filters arrived today, was bit of a squeeze even fitting them. I will see if i can test the different filters at the rolling road.

Craig, I cut the top cross member of the front panel to give me more clearance for my ITG filter, as I'm using Aerocatches on the bonnet.

yip I will actually do the same, my panel is a bit of a mess anyway from spot lamp steadies.

Did you just cut or have you also bent a lip over?

I would cut and bend. So you keep some strength.

I cut and bent over a 10mm lip and welded the corners to keep the strength on the panel.

Had the car mapped today.

Spent about 5 hours there. Was a fun day, guys let me get involved and invited me to their coffee and lunch break.

Fairly happy with the result and the car feels much more powerful. The SC base map was really close. And the tuners commented on how much thought and work had gone into the base map. base map figures were around 104 BHP at the wheels.  But the fueling was pretty lean at low revs.

So after what seemed like endless power runs and tweaking. It was very loud, I could even hear it in the next building when i went to the toilet.

So in the end the results was 107.3 BHP at the wheels and 116.5 lb-ft

They could not tell me what the correction would be at the flywheel, but explained that 20% loss was normal, although varies. Any idea what the loss might be?

Good stuff,

It's good to have it a bit lean for running in, well not rich anyway... So that's probably why the map is biased that way.

I'd was going to say I'd expect a bit more power than that, but the I saw its at the wheels, so about where I'd expect it!

I found it worthwhile moving the car cam timing from SC's recommendation, but that was on an 8v.
