Is it a case of having it working or just having the bits plumbed in ?
I think the authorities might notice the whacking great big BMW head before the go looking for a well hidden plastic canister?

On the original system Craig it "stores" the vented vapour until the car is "hot" (over 74C from memory) then the purge valve bleeds the vapour back into the throttle body so burning it off.

As I now understand even if the purge valve is present but disconnected (from power and the canister) the charcoal canister will vent when full.
The head conversion is fine, just need to keep the emission levels as they were before. The emissions capture /breather system is all part of that in their eyes.
I think the fact that they know it is a more modern mini, they will be looking for the purge valve etc.
