My friend and fellow Mini enthusiast here in town has a D series in his P'up - it's more than enough power and extremely reliable - he's done 25K miles in his so far and loved almost every minute of it.

Hey Magneto, is your friends a stock motor?   when you say "more than enough power" is it really more than enough?  I'm not sure how quick mine will be especially with the built motor,  but I really hoping for the "hold on to something" feeling when I hit the gas.

As john says, the power should be about the same as a stock B series but Ill have better/useable gearing, and it's bit lighter which should all add up to a more drivability and steerable daily monster.

I wish there was someone local in my area that I could take me for a ride, so anxious to see how she performs!

Yep, pretty much stock, mild tuning to the ECU - estimate 130-135hp. The car pulls strong in every gear and definitely gives the "whoa" feeling when you give it the ol wellie....however, I think he needs taller gears to make it more comfortably on the long hiway runs. With the alignment set up well it doesn't even torque steer...............much.

That's great to hear!!! You eased my mind on the set up that I'm going with.
The 3.7 FD and LSD I choose will/should be a good combo.
We're aiming for 150-160 whp, anything close to that I'll be happy with.

Nice! I'd love a 510, but prices are climbing here in South Africa.

They are starting to get high here too. Couldn't pass this one up!

Those look like 7.5" brakes, so will you be keeping the 10" wheels?

Those 7.5 are being replaced, still keeping 10's!
