Anyone able to help me move my mini from my parents house to mine?

 

Currently off the road being restored so need to be trailed.

I don't have a trailer, but if you could arrange to borrow one or a dolly, I'd be prepared to do the towing.

Cheers mate, I can borrow my Nans land rover to tow it if i can locate a trailer but local company wanted £48 to move it!!!

its about 10 miles.... from duston to weston favell but its in no state to be towed etc as its pretty stripped down atm

Not that I really know how these things work, but could it ho on a dolly trailer? Ie front wheels on dolly and then dragged on rear wheels?
Just wondering if I can get one borrowed

£48 sounds like a bargain. I can't see you doing better unless it's as a favour.

If you have £48 I agree. Given that's including someone's time and equipment. However, if you've little or no spare cash, it's can seem a lot to find. I could pay that now (I wouldn't, but I could). But for many many years I couldn't. Hence trying to help.

I brought my first house a few months ago hence me asking if anyone is able to help initially :) would rather keep £50 in my pocket if possible currently..... 

 

A dolly would work i guess, my friend has an A-Frame but he said it wouldnt work as on that its supposed to sit on the cars wishbone.

I beleive it is illegal to use a dolly anyway if the mini isn't fully legal itself.

£50 is cheap, it would end up being a couple of hours of messing around, plus fuel.

Stuff on gov.uk website says only that the brakes in contact with the road need to meet 50% efficiency that would be required by a trailer.
This makes little sense to me as they couldn't actually be used but hey ho.

So I think it is legal, though not the intended purpose of such dollys. Also they are subject to a 20mph speed restriction (40 on motorway).

My view would be like most things, if you don't take the mick, you're likely to get away with it.

It's a potential can of worms. Is it a car, needing tax & insurance, or a trailer? Dollies are supposed to be for recovery aren't they?

 

As you say, you'd be unfortunate to get pulled but it'd be best to remove registration plates that suggest it's a road vehicle and be sure the towing vehicle and driver's licence meet all the rules.

That would be great i believe, I will talk to my nan about borrowing the land rover and message you if thats ok?
