All of them mix threads and have done for years !

You show me a car today either on the road or in the showroom and I will show you a mix of threads.

Thanks for the info. The captive bolts may well have been made from cheese since they sheared so easily. I've been fighting seized bolts, studs and nuts the whole way with this Spi. I've only knowingly used metric tools before I started on this Spi..........

A handy little book is a Zeus book ... it is full of useful references to sizes etc... 9/16" is about 14mm etc

Get some Duck oil it is great at loosening rusty bolts, it is the best stuff that I have used

Make sure you get the genuine stuff as lots of motor factors will try to sell you an "equivalent"

This is also a handy reference if you're trying to find the nearest size spanner for a particular job:

After drilling out the remaining captive bolts I replaced them with new ones. A few spots of Mig weld are holding them in place. As per the previous posts, this basically stops the bolts from falling out and turning under load. I used the master cylinder base plate as a template to ensure I'd drilled the holes in the right places.

thanks for the help.

apologies for thread revival but it seems like the most sensible place to add the info

can anyone confirm the length of protruding stud please on the pedal box, I cut and drilled mine for new fresh bolts (awtg delivery) but stupidly threw bits away without measuring (what a plonker)

I have 2" bolts on order and will just cut them down after fitting

Hehehehee,,,,,, for what ever it's worth, I fit 1-1/4" bolts in there. That's about as long as you can sensibly fit.
