I have a 1275 Mini Moke, not sure what year. After standing for a while the clutch will not disengage and it seems it is sticking to the flywheel. We have bumped it out of this position once but it has done it again.

What is the trick?

Assuming all else is working, it could be if the car has stood for a while hat the flywheel and backing plate faces have rusted, in which case usually driving it (and working the clutch) will soon sort that. Another cause is if is has run for any length of time with a worn out clutch and the flywheel / backing plate have become grooved, in which case the flywheel and backing plate will need machining (properly!) and a new clutch kit would be a good idea.

Maybe you can try getting the Moke in a clear space, then with it in reverse or 1st, and foot on clutch, start the engine and try driving it around with foot on clutch. Sometimes this will make the clutchplate break free.

Lots of grease and wd40 on the clutch mechanism where it goes into the housing and work in for a while.
It should free off, saves having to remove the cover.
