Hi!

Recently bought a MED alloy inlet manifold to replace my cracked manifold.
When it arrived there were quite a bit of casting imperfectons it in .
No one's perfect so I just dremeled it out.

Today I tried fitting the manifold and it doesn't even slide over the manifold studs. Compared to my old one it's visibly wider .
Does anyone know if there's a faulty batch of manifolds around? I've tried contacting them more than a week ago about the ITG filter ( if its pre oiled or not) but didn't get a reply, so I'm not too hopefull about getting one about the manifold either.

Yes, it might be solved by filing the holes, but that's not something you expect to do when you buy something from a renowned company like med. And, with it being wider , I'd think the ports wouldn't line op too well either.

Cheers

Is that a picture of inside the manifold? If so that would probably aid fuel atomisation. Vizard says a rough surface is beneficial.

Rough like here, not filled with lumps and bumps. 13086706_992384034163123_227908900232192

While Im waiting for their instructions on how to fit the inlet I test fitted the filter to the carb. The fit isn't too good either..

Wonder if someone on quality control was sleeping?

Started to mount the carb to the inlet...
Think there really is a problem with these!

Oh, and yes, I've tried turning the spacer, but it doesn't change a thing.

I think you have got to contact them to see their reaction. Send them the pictures and give them the opportunity to do the right thing. If they don't then you still have the right to ask for your money back. I always try to pay with PayPal or a credit card and have returned quite a lot of poor items for a refund.

I agree with Compdoc, it does seem very strange that MED have sent out what looks like an inferior manifold as they have a good reputation as mini specialists.

I bought a Minispares manifold and an itg filter and stubstack from MED and it mated up perfectly, so i would assume this manifold has slipped past the MED QC dept, it does happen in this world but when it happens to you it is more frustrating.

I am sure MED will rectify the problem no trouble, good luck, let us know the outcome.
