if something seems like its too good to be true.... then it probably is  :dozing:

Agreed cheap is not always worth the saving in the long run, not all oil filters are the same and it is especially important on Mini's which share the oil with the gearbox.......several test reports like below if you google....

Engine Oil Filter Study

"Use this study only as a source of some information that may give you a better idea about which filter brands to steer clear from. It should be obvious that some manufacturers are not being honest about their product. The next time you buy a filter for your car, buy two and hack one open to see what you have. My intent was to give you some information and alert you to some little-known issues, not to tell you what to think."

Or go to their Sister Company Carparts4less.co.uk.    Even cheaper then.

Carparts4less.co.uk

Quite well known that site is about 25% cheaper. Ecp main website usually matches the prices when they do a promo event.

Since they were cheap as chips, I am going to section one when it arrives....

Digging around shows that Crosland no longer make filters, the trademark name is owned by Eurocarparts themselves so what's is the box is what they decide to purchase which is probably why they are so cheap from these two sources.

That would be interesting. There is a report on one of the Honda forums that instead of filtering the oil, it was diverting it around the filter due to poor manufacture

Sealant inside central section to deflector. Oil must come from centre section through media.

The filter paper is 1.28m2 approx in area.
Construction is well formed with centre section held tightly against outer plate by rubber o seal shown in 4th picture.

Seems pretty good to me!

ECP bought the Crossland name and now stick it on the cheapest filters they can get, rather than researching and developing their own. There's no guarantee that they'll even be the same as the ones they were selling a week ago lol.
It's the same with Pagid and Eicher, ECP own them and there's a lot of bad reviews regarding noisy disks and pads. I try to avoid the lot, bought some Brembo disks and pads for our MINI today even though they were £20 a pair more than that other two makes.

People forget ecp is aimed at all levels of road user. They sell cheap parts, mid level and high end parts. Most people will go for the cheapest.

Someone with a 200 quid car will buy the cheapest pads n discs and a little harsher noise when braking wont matter to them.

Someone with a bmw m sport will buy performance discs and pads.

Its all about perspective and cost.

Pagid stuff has a good warranty and ive used them on my daily cars without issue. I thought i had a set of warped discs....6 months old and the swappes them over the counter without question. Turned out the hub was actually damaged/bent from previous owner which caused the issue not the discs themselves.

Repaired hub and refitted new pagid discs and 20k miles its been fine.

I've used Crosland filters on my mini for years and never had any issues. Also got a pagid master cylinder which works a treat.

I'm happy with what I bought, I hear what people are commenting, but for economic quantities it's unlikely to change so frequently between suppliers. There are only relatively few manufacturers of the filter medium too and there will be a specification from ECP.

Unfortunately, when i went to look at ordering a few of the bargain oil filters, they wanted £8 delivery, the joys of living offshore lol. Fortunately, Eurocarparts have a voucher code on at the moment 'Flash25' which makes a crossland oil filter £1.12 with free delivery, even offshore. Happy days.
