Started to fit the new hydro bump stops today.
Everything was going ok - old single bolt bump stop ground off, shock unbolted, drilled the hydro bump stop holes to suit shock bolt.
Came to re-assemble but the shock bolt end threads have splayed out due to over enthusiastic hammering!

I noticed that Minispares have the shock bolts with a built in spacer. Anybody used these?

Any good?
They're threaded at both ends, so may a little easier to use.

Or do I go for these?

Not quite the same as the standard shock bolt, but this is what Minispares suggest to use.

Just go for a bolt and separate spacer. At least if the bolt gets stuck, you do have the hex head of it to put a spanner on to to get it moving.

As a matter of course, I very lightly grease all these bolts when fitting to stop them giving trouble later. You can get fancy greases coatings, but I've found any grease works well.

The old bolt took a bit of hammering out, even with a few squirts of penetrating oil.
New one will definitely be greased before fitting.

Always use the bolt with seperate spacer. The original one piece item has severe stress raisers at the changes in cross section and frequently suffers fatigue fracture.

Ordered separate bolt, Nyloc nut & washer for both left & right sides from Wood & Pickett ebay shop.

Last time I looked they were cheaper too, just being a standard grade 8.8 bolt and nut, and an easily manufactured spacer. Sometimes cheapest is best!

Yep. Got the full kit for just short of a tenner.

New Shock bolt kit arrived today, so fitted one side tonight with no problems.
Ended up not fitting the washers that were supplied, as the extra stack from the hydro bump stop brackets meant that there was less thread for the nyloc nut.

Looks spot on now.
Need to do the other side now!
