First vehicle would have been a Honda C50 step thru on Llandow airfield at about the age of 12 and the first car I drove would have been a Hillman Avenger of my Dad's that I learnt to drive in.
First car of my own was a 1965 Mini 850.

When I was 8, I first jolted a car up and down the drive. I chose badly, because although it was a beautifully preserved 1956 Beetle, the action of its floor mounted clutch pedal meant I didn't take off smoothly!

Then when I was about 12 my father took me driving in a Renault 8. Back then, at the end of the 60s, Brentwood Council [IIRC] ran an off-road learner driver centre. They had a supermarket car-park sized network of tarmac roads where learners and unlicensed drivers could learn and practice away from real traffic. There were dozens of cars jerking and jolting around the place but I don't remember any actual bumps. Imagine the insurance implications of that now!!

First legal car journey was my mum's 1993 Ford Mondeo Estate with a 2L Zetec. I thought it was the dogs dangleys but really it was a pile of crap!
