I've just signed up to the forum so thought I polite to say hello. Last year my son and I purchased a 1989 Mini 30 as a joint "project". I has an original Fiat 500 (hairdryer engine, no synchromesh, steering box, crossply tyres) which he had driven on private ground, but insurance was over £1000 so wasn't going to work.
8 months later the rust is sorted and the engine has been replaced due to a stripped headstud causing head gasket failure :mmkay:Next week we're taking the Mini to the Le Mans Classic with a group of friends, instead of using the TVR Tuscan which we usually go in - should run the engine in nicely.
