I thought that the later van bonnets had the hinges in the right place to fit to a Mk3 onwards?

I know that my parts situation is quite different from yours... but I get almost sick when I hear someone talk about cutting up or modifying parts from a Mk1/2 to fit Mk3 and later cars. Were I in your position, I'd sell the Mk1 part and buy what you really need with the profit.

I took a quick look at Mini Spares & Mini Mania. Mk1 bonnet #24A1182, 92 GBP with VAT. Mk3 and later bonnet #MSL2 54 GBP or #CZH455 at 82 GBP. (These being new parts mind you). By comparison, in the U.S. these same parts sell for, $300, $160, & $200 respectively.

As others have said, Mk1 hinges are toward the center.

I guess my bonnet is an aftermarket part intended for a later van/pickup.

dk, I think the only chopping suggested is to make a later part look earlier. Surely this is not too naughty?
