Cruising speed at 75mph (120kph), not too noisy at 86... (140kph) but only for short periods because of speed cameras every 5km... 2000mpi Cooper sport with full sunroof and solid mounted, forgot to look at rpm's, will do next time... 😀

My 998 has the 3.76 diff ratio, so at 100kph (62mph) my tacho is reading around 4300rpm. I'm happy to sit on that speed for long distances.

Going much faster than that isn't great as the poor old valve springs aren't doing much after 4500rpm...

I like to be gentle on the mini for the most part - on the motorway I cruise her around 55 - 60 mph, about 3000 rpm, she returned 50 mpg on the last run (that is with the odometer readings from my sat nav and also the speedo in the mini, both were within a mile of each other over 250 miles. I have done runs at 70, but the noise and extra stain just dint seem worth it to me, also the mpg suffered and the mini started to use a bit of oil when sitting at 4k rpm for too long... 55 is a nice speed to sit at anyway, just buzz along in the first lane! You still get there!

The trouble with sitting in the inside lane at 55 MPH is that the HGV's are also sat at approximately the same speed, in the same lane, this isn't something I'd like to do, all Mini's should be capable of a 60 to 70 mph cruise if they are well maintained, you aren't going to be keeping up with the Audi (other car brands are available)  doing 100 + in the outside lane but you should be able to keep up with the majority of traffic.

my old neon used to be quite happy at 70 with the odd bit of 80 if I had to get out of the way of a flashing audi or BMW :)

I think 75-80, I mean 70! Mine is a 1275 fast road. My speedo is inaccurate as well so it says I'm doing 65 and its a bit quicker. I am running 12's.
