So I have two questions here.  Can a MPI engine be converted and run with a more standard SU carb? or/can a MPI engine be dropped into a non MPI mini and wired and it will run?  I know what a lot of you are probably thinking, but sometimes I get involved with things without thinking it through ahead of time.  But I have the 98 MPI engine now and I'm traveling down that road.  It is probably the same roads the lemmings take.  LOL

Any thoughts/help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Terry

As above, why? What are you hoping to achieve?

the answer is yes to both your questions

to run a carb set up you would need an inlet manifold to go with it, you would need to run something other than a dizzy as there is no dizzy hole on the mpi block so megajolt or similar. You would need an electric fuel pump. Depending on what head you use you would need to think about the plumbing and the mounting of the alternator.

To fit the entire injection set up is a lot more involved and would require everything including the loom, fuel tank, relays and ecu/alarm module and so on. But it has been done before

If you can get hold of an ecu that works would be your first problem, and then the engine and ecu looms, which are not cheap.

It can be done, but may cost a lot more than you think.

I appreciate everyone's response, well almost everyone's.  As I said in my original post, I already have the engine.  I'm happy with a carb setup.  I just had concerns because of the dizzyless system.

Thanks

Cheating a little though, not using the MPI ECU or throttle body! ;)

Here is one that went to an extreme to fit the MPi engine:

http://www.aronline....mpi-conversion/

Took me awhile to find it again.

There is also another here in the states that installed the full Rover kit in a MK I body.

I have a picture or two somewhere.
