So I have two questions here.  Can a MPI engine be converted and run with a more standard SU carb? or/can a MPI engine be dropped into a non MPI mini and wired and it will run?  I know what a lot of you are probably thinking, but sometimes I get involved with things without thinking it through ahead of time.  But I have the 98 MPI engine now and I'm traveling down that road.  It is probably the same roads the lemmings take.  LOL

Any thoughts/help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Terry

You can run an MPi engine on carbs, but you'd have to run a standalone ECU like a megajolt.

There's a couple of other things to deal with, like the fuel pump, but nothing to hugely worry about.

Two very different questions with two different answers.

Modding an MPI car to run on carbs will lead to emission issues at MOT time.

Fitting an MPI along with all the wiring and black boxes into an older car is posible.

Using an MPI engine as a base for a carb engine build is posible but you will need some dizzyless ignition system. Not hard to sort though.
