Ok I'll bite

67 Cooper with rear seat belts in the USA and posting in the EFi forum gets me concerned, do you mean 97 Cooper as a 67 Cooper would definitely have carbs ?

Presuming not, I don't believe any 67 Coopers had rear seat belts, they probably only just started fitting front belts at that time ! If the car has rear belts then they'll have been added after purchase.

Just to clarify is your car an SPi/MPi or does it have carbs ? If it is then the chances are its definitely not a 67 Cooper. You hear so many stories of later Minis being sold to the USA with the registration documents from a much older car - something to do with import restrictions on later cars.

The US customs are cracking down on this illegal trade and good Minis are being needlessly destroyed and US citizens are finding themselves out of pocket.

Hopefully my concerns are totally unfounded in this case but I've seen quite a few MPi's advertised in the USA as 60's and 70's Coopers when they are clearly late 90's Minis on false documents :(
