Hi
My '76 Clubman is a bit hard to select the gears ( 1, 2, 3 & 4), checked fluids and all good no leak
its a rod change gearbox
it takes me a few tries to get it in.
Anyone had similar problem?

Your clutch needs adjusting or replacing, what type of clutch do you have fitted?

its a stock clutch from a 1100S I believe
1275cc
engine number 12YDTaH149xx
once in the gear it runs great no p[roblemos
sometimes you can just put it in the gear just like that but most of the time its a bit hard to get it in the gear, no crunches though
checked the clutch fluid, no visual leaks

If the remote casing or its internals are worn, or clogged, you will get difficult gearchanges, especially across the gate.

To adjust, start with the return stop; pull the clutch arm away from the engine then dial out the return stop until it's about a 20 thou gap.
Next, break the locknut on the plunger, then get a body to pump the clutch a few times and hold it down, then whizz the nuts up till they touch the housing. Release the clutch, give the inner nut another 1/4 turn and lock them back up.
Go drive it about, rinse and repeat if necessary.

0.020" gap from the return stop to what?
this is my 1st time to adjust the clutch and just waiting for my workshop manual.
Anyone got a pic of step by step or this adjusting screw?
