Its only been a couple months of mini driving for me. When I got the car I noticed the touching point is very high, like 1/2" or less from the top less the play in the clutch pedal. Tonight while driving, it was alright at first until I got off the highway. When I accelerate from a stand still, first and 2nd is usable, but accelerating from 3rd and 4th is very slow and vibrates hard. If I applied slight pressure on the clutch(minimal travel, just a tad of pressure), the vibrating stops. I'm guessing I just need new clutch plates(what part# do I need, it's an 85mayfair, 998cc) or is there a lot more to it?
I forgot to add, the car has about 55000miles on it. Does it seem time for a new clutch?
How does the procedure of replacing clutch plates differ from a normal standard car like a honda civic or something like that? I'm in Ontario, Canada; not too many mini experts around and none close by!.. I might have to do it myself!
