Its only been a couple months of mini driving for me. When I got the car I noticed the touching point is very high, like 1/2" or less from the top less the play in the clutch pedal. Tonight while driving, it was alright at first until I got off the highway. When I accelerate from a stand still, first and 2nd is usable, but accelerating from 3rd and 4th is very slow and vibrates hard. If I applied slight pressure on the clutch(minimal travel, just a tad of pressure), the vibrating stops. I'm guessing I just need new clutch plates(what part# do I need, it's an 85mayfair, 998cc) or is there a lot more to it?

I forgot to add, the car has about 55000miles on it. Does it seem time for a new clutch?

How does the procedure of replacing clutch plates differ from a normal standard car like a honda civic or something like that? I'm in Ontario, Canada; not too many mini experts around and none close by!.. I might have to do it myself!

Replacing the clutch plate is a DIY job, and there's no special clutch alignment tools necessary

Looks like my clutch is close to end of life but I called and asked a mini expert and he suggested I check my engine mounts cause they could be a cause of vibration. It turns out I have a broken stabilizer bracket. Changing the bracket seems easy enough!...

engine stabilizer bracket welded together and installed. But still got the violent shakes. it seems the exhaust is banging violently on the bottom of the floor from the engine vibration!... someone help me! Oh yeah, very low in engine power; difficulty accelerating!
