Thanks for the info...not overly bothered it's standard as it came with the engine. Just the words of the last owner, must be a short final drive keeping it on cam. The reason I mention the race preparation was to highlight the possibility of a reverse lockout/omission - the car the engine is from was raced in autocross events in the 70s. Didn't know if it was a common issue with a common solution. Nothing's ever that simple though! - I'll strip it down at some point, only way to get to the bottom of it ...turns out the bronze plate in the video isn't an obstruction, the selector wants to move in towards the rest of the gearbox rather than out towards the casing - deceiving...

No visible markings on diff, at least from those angles...tempting, what sort of money should a 3 syncro fetch?

as above,

 

that said, 3 sync boxes go for ok money for people restoring period cars, so outing it is an option and then get somthing else.

 

stick some pics up of the Diff, you mention an LSD, we can try to confirm this

well definatly looks like an LSD in there, could be an old jack knight one, hard to tell.
