I had a similar problem with one of the engine mountings so I took the opportunity to install the upgraded minispares 21A1902 mounting when changing the rad.

Ha - you must have bought all their stock - they have none left!

If you want any, just Google the part number.

That's what I normally do when they dont have stock and it never usually fails to find stock elsewhere.

Cheers

I thought I would carry out a couple of minor tasks today on the Mini like changing the faulty sidelight/headlight switch and re bleeding the Brakes.

The light switch works didnt go as planned as the connector to the switch had a poor connection and required me to reterminate the cables and fit a new connector

I then rebled the brakes and managed to do this

After carrying out the works last week and today I took the Mini for a run, with the new engine mounting and stabiliser bushes the car is much quieter with less vibration and rattles being passed into the cabin. So 40 miles later I returned home with a smile on my face :D

Fitted the Minispares quick shift gear lever today which was very easy to install, however the old gear knob didnt fit, so a temporary one was installed and a new one is on order.

I purchased a new set of front seat covers from Jase (a fellow TMF member) and had them fitted by RJ Turner, I am extremely pleased with the results, a big thank you to Jase for all his help.

Those seats look excellent. I'd be dead chuffed if they were mine.

I can actually remember being in Kennings showroom on Sheaf Street in Sheffield when these cars first went on sale. I thought the striped nylon upholstery was so luxurious after the pvc seat covers that went before.

The Mini has been runnning well and has been getting plenty of use, however today the indicators and hazards started to work intermittently, after scratching my head and looking at the wiring diagram and checking connections to hazard switch and both flasher units, the hazards started working again but the fuel pump stopped working.

I then turned my attention to the fuse box where I discovered the cause of the problem :D

It was only once I removed the fuse that I noticed it was damaged, luckily I was close to home when it happened.

Another electrical  gremlin sorted out by changing the ignition switch, and the remote push button starter removed along with some questionable wiring.

Look who's back

c57cTbL.jpg

Last time it was here, I was asked to fit a new wheel bearing but upon trying to fit it, the hub was sufficiently worn that the bearing race wouldn't press in tightly and simply dropped in and spun.

I obtained a replacement hub but there was a problem where upon tightening the hub nut, the bearing locked up.

There wasn't time to do much about it as John needed the car back to get hom to Kent so I fitted a used hub as a temporary solution.

Now I have the new hub built up to be fitted today.

I've also tweaked the window frames in the doors as they were starting to leak slightly in places.

With that done, it will be having an mot this afternoon.

Cheers

Ben

Thanks Ben for sorting out the hub/window frames/headlight alignment and emmissions to get it through the MOT, it was good to see you, your new workshop and the works to Verderads GT.

The car performed well on the way back with no window leaks in the pouring rain :highfive:

No worries John.

It was great to see both you and Christine and have a catch up.

All the best to you both

Ben
