Looking good Ben, does the other side need similar repairs?

I have a new step and quarter bottom for the other side as it was much worse. But generally yes, it does need the same repairs.

Cheers

Ben

Continuing on from yesterday, i welded in the lower side panel repair sections that i made up

It's looking a lot more like it in here too

Then onto the flitch

After lots of cutting, grinding and peeling off old patches, i managed to get to the stage of clamping in the repair panel

Since that was taken, i have removed more of the old flitch and got the post ready.

There are quite a few repairs needed to the post due to corrosion so ill hopefully get that sorted tomorrow although i'm in and out most of the day visiting cars on the Island to do quotes for.

Cheers

Ben

Hi Ben

The quality of the rear side panel repairs is excellent (as always) and it's great to see the progress each day, I have sent you an e-mail regarding the question about hinges.

:highfive:

There are trials and tribulations to it like all jobs but generally, i love it. It sure beats repairing accident damage (although we do that too  )

It is great to see these Mini's come back to life and having a part in doing that is very satisfying.

Cheers

Hi John. Glad you like the repairs.

I did see your e-mail (over the shoulder of our receptionist) but didn't get chance to reply.

It's ordered up now so will be in tomorrow.

Cheers

Ben

I still need to fabricate the A post section to go over the top but it all lines up well so should be good.

This is the side that had the poor fitting door so ill bolt the door on Monday and see what we have.

Cheers

Ben

Had a door skin to do on a modern this morning so only had 3 hours after lunch to crack on so i continued with the A post repairs.

6SYKga4.jpg

I cut the bottom of the inner a post away and made up and fitted a new piece

DFJoXNF.jpg

zUupWta.jpg

And made up and fitted the outer A post section

Glb69hA.jpg

I still need to finish the bottom before fitting the flitch but i have had the door on and without any shims, it fits pretty much bang on.

I shall weld in the flitch and then have another play with the door before fitting the A panel and that will wrap this side up.

Then onto the other side....

Cheers

Ben

Hi Ben

Good work again and good to hear that the door fits pretty much bang on as the alignment before was very poor.

It was wasn't it!

I remember a massive 1" wide gap between the bottom of the A panel and door and almost touching at the top.

I also have the new hinges on it too which will make a difference
