Because that's the difference between a parts catalog which shows parts and a workshop manual which guides you on how to assemble said parts.

When did they become one piece? Sure I remember them being two piece.

It was easy then just bang them in.

The one piece bush is the later type which came with the horrid, squidgy front end in an effort to reduce noise. You can tell because the front trunnions are square, with two long bolts each. The old ones were the same as the rear trunnions, with a long and short bolt.

The old arrangement as designed properly by Alec did indeed use split bushes which almost never gave trouble. It is an easy retrofit to later models, just change the front pair of trunnions and fit old-style bushes. And don't be surprised if you can't hear any extra road noise as the improvement was minimal.

Some people used to turn pairs of rigid bushes, commonly nylon or delrin, but any reasonable material could be used, to make the mounts effectively solid. That is more or less what poly bushes do these days as the material, except in its softest form, is not very compressible.
