Got them on my 77. The backing is still reflective so it's ok

Got them on my '73 XJ6, they're spot on...

Planning to put an ageless plate on my '70s backdate Mini project using the same reflective plates as the Jag.

I like everything about that car! People sticking black and silver plates on 70s cars dont realise that people wanted to show off their fancy yellow and white ones on a new car. Same as people fitting mk2 rear panels to rear end shunted mk1 minis in the late 60s and 70s, stick a new grill on and the neighbours might think you've had an upgrade to the latest model, fancy! :-)

I bought my Minor Traveller still wearing the original reflective rear plate, plastic figures on and ally back plate, but it had a cheap and nasty modern front plate. I thought about getting black and silver pressed ally ones but decided to stay with what it was originally registered with, a few days off eBay searching and I came up with a new old stock minor blank and set of Bluemels figures, I'm not a stickler for originality but very happy with how it looks.

Sorry about the bling chrome edging :shy:

Interesting. They don't look road legal.

And IIRC any new plate has to comply with current regs. Fitting a plate that is the correct look for the car if made today is not exactly right.

Note they should also have the makers info on them.

But it does seem to be a big of a legislation issue as there are legal pressed metal plates that fulfill the current regs.

But then the black and silver which don't comply are now being fitted to cars that would never have had them when registered.

Any new plate is meant to be the new style but how would anyone know how old your old ones are? My 95 Mayfair has the big Rover plate with big letters on the back, I'm going to get one for the front but a lot of places are selling them with correct old font but in new size.

I've got pressed German plates on my VW van complete with a D for Deutschland :-D

 It does, its 1975 now..

1990 over here. https://www.gov.im/c...ates/#accordion

I'd go for some of the Gothic alu plates from Tippers but I know they'd have problems with the system over here ( no V5, just log books).
