drove to ashford and back on the motorway today - which is about 20 miles there and back. my water temp was between normal and hot.

anywayz.

when i got back home, at idel; the oil pressure was really low - less than 20 (what ever units they are) on the guage and the water temp was back to normal. the oil pressure wasnt low enough for the oil light to come on. but is this normal?

left it for about an hour, and its back at the normal pressure.

any ideas?

Oil pressure is normal.
Water temp -- if that's the way it usually behaves, then it's ok. Running warm is better than running too cool.

what are the units on the oil pressure guage? psi?

Yep, lb psi I guess. There have been a few postings about this lately if you want to have a search but IMHO if it ain't broke don't fix it. The main thing is you don't want low oil pressure at high revs or high pressure at low revs. As for water temp, there seem to be as many variations as there are minis!

If its the old smiths guage with the needle pointing towards the floor then its in lbs. The Silver Eel even at top whack only ever hit pfff...21,22 ish?

Keep an eye on it, 20 is getting a tad low! How many miles has your mini done?
