998's can take a pounding. Just stick to the speed limits and forget about it. They go on forever providing it's well maintained. If you've got a rev counter you must be posh ! ;D

5000 rpm in 4th should be "along" the lines of 70-75 ish but 998s can go to 6000 and not blink...I wouldnt rag it that fast anyhow - the last time I did I ended up getting toed from Brummi to Minehead...a very slow experience indeed.

4th is basically tick over at 30mph...

But 4th when opened up........ (onehundred and seventeenmiles per hour!) Private estate, very long drive!

no idea what FD I have in mine, and I have no rev counter. I stick to 65-70 on the motorway, and its absolutely fine. did L2B and holiday in cornwall at that speed - no problems. Once you go above 70 I can feel its not happy about it.

It also tends to get a bit thirsty above 70 too !!

OK anyone got a 92 car with tacho and speedo? I haven't got a speedo (never worked and always passes MOT) so what speed is 5500rpm in top?

I tend to spend most of my time between 4000 and 5000rpm. At 5000rpm I'm going past most things.

If there's a speed camera I probably slow down too much

Assuming it's std it'll probably have a 3.1 FD so use this to find out a speed...

Excellent link that - Yes it's standard box and diff. That makes it 104mph. Could be possible on my spec (whatever that is)

Cheers

Stoo
