Looks like it may have been dropped?

 

If it still held oil, then just 'cut' the spot facing for the nut back square and user a shorter stud or even a bolt.

 

Ideally, you'd have the spot facing machined back, but you could also do a respectable job with a dremal too.

It may have been damaged being put on the delivery pallet? I was careful taking it off using the hoist but who knows.

I could have a go with the dremal if all else fails, I'm pretty sure it still held oil.

Bottom left stud hole also looks damaged

Yeah can see it now, think I'll go the safe option and bin it. Have bought an empty gearbox case complete with diff case so will swap it all over/refurbish as I go.
