Indeed, it maybe easier to secure it in the boot and make the battery connections safe.

If you do have a puncture you'll probably struggle to get ANY sort of jack under the car, with it being so low to the ground in the first place!

Thats a very good point but I am running standard ride height so I might stand a fighting chance. I'd rather have something and fail than nothing at all though.

I carry an electric scissor jack with me on long journeys, it works off the cig lighter, and is very easy to use... simply press a button for up or down... Rated at 1 1/2 tonnes, so easily lifts a Mini....

Very similar to this : https://damsu.co.uk/...ml#.WM6CZvnyjIU

Don't get one from machine mart just go on eBay and see who is selling the spare wheel parts from cars they are breaking, you can pick them up for a few pound and then cut the foam down so it fits in the mini wheel

A bit irrelevant but I watched a YouTube video about a mini adventure to Italy from the Uk, there were a group of blokes that were from middlesex mini club I believe. Anyway they inevitably had a few breakdowns and they had an airbag that they put under the car and filled with gas from the rear exhaust pipe and it lifted the car up. Seemed ideal for small repairs by the road side. However I imagine a thing like that to come with a big price tag

I like the airbag idea but I picked up one of the 1 tonne scissor jacks from machine mart yesterday morning. Fingers crossed it never gets used.

I've always found that scissor jacks become unstable as the car lifts and I've never found a bottle jack short enough to fit under a Mini subframe.  I now carry a lightweight ally trolly jack and I've run a ratchet strap under the spare wheel and around the jack to stop it from sliding about .  I've just had a look on machine mart and they are now the north side of £100, I recall paying around £65ish for mine 7 or 8 years ago.

Them airbags are awesome, years back when I had a slammed xr3i had to call the aa out as I had a flat and the aa guy used one as he couldn't get his jack under. Never seen one since! Lol
