Examine the condition of the thermostat housing carefully too. All of the minis I have had have needed a new one due to the ally corroding and putting giving rubbish seal.

Good point, they do corrode sometimes. I have been lucky so far, just had to clean one up with abrasive paper on a flat surface.

Thanks for every ones help. I have fixed the problem. It Was either the expansion bottle cap or the bolts needed tightening on the thermostat housing.

Steam condenses, smoke doesn't, use something absorbent (kitchen paper) taped around suspect joints.
